Bao Loc is the southern entry point to the Annam Cordillera, the mountain chain which runs the length of Vietnam. A sub-district of Lam Dong Province, it is one of the centers of Vietnam’s booming coffee industry. Bao Loc is also the name of the small town that is the capital of Bao Loc district. This town has a way of life that was characteristic of all of Vietnam before the economic & social changes of the past decade; but it is also on the cusp of similar change. The area is home to several of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities, and is also noted for its social cohesion and contentment, due to its relatively stable population.
